Fomer President Obama tells Biden it is time to step down

Former U.S. President Barack Obama has told allies that Joe Biden should reconsider his re-election bid, the Washington Post reported Thursday.

Obama believes Biden’s chances of a victory have diminished and that the 81-year-old should “seriously consider the feasibility of his candidacy,” the newspaper said, citing people briefed on his thinking.

The newspaper said there was no immediate comment from Obama, who served while Biden was vice president from 2009 to 2017 and remains highly influential in the Democratic Party.

Obama would become the most prominent Democrat to date to sign on to the growing party chorus demanding that Biden resign following his appalling performance in the debate against Donald Trump.

Biden, who is isolating himself with Covid at his beach house, has dismissed concerns about his age and fitness and insisted that he will remain in the race for the White House.

However, the pressure is mounting: Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries have reportedly met with Biden in recent days to warn that his candidacy threatens his party’s prospects in the November elections. In short, everyone is abandoning the sinking boat, but it remains to be proven that Kamala Harris’s is a boat that can float!!!
