Former Secret Service Chief Cheatle wanted to destroy the cocaine found in The White House
Do you remember the cocaine scandal that hit the White House? Something ties it to former Secret Service chief Cheatle Former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle and other agency executives wanted to destroy the cocaine discovered at the White House last summer, but the Secret Service’s Forensic Services Division and Uniformed Division remained steadfast in their convictions and rejected the push to dispose of the evidence, according to three sources in the Secret Service community. The source of the news is RealClearPolitics.
There were multiple arguments and confrontations regarding the appropriate way to handle the cocaine after the bag was discovered by a Secret Service Uniformed Division agent on July 2, 2023, a calm Sunday, while President Biden and his family were at Camp David, Maryland.
At least one Division agent was initially assigned to investigate the cocaine incident. But after he told his supervisors, including Cheatle and acting Secret Service Director Ron Rowe, who was deputy director at the time, that he wanted to follow a certain investigative protocol at the crime scene, he was taken off the case, according to a source within the Secret Service community who knows the circumstances of his removal.
The discovery of the cocaine envelope posed an unusual problem for Cheatle, who resigned in the face of bipartisan pressure after the July 13 attack on Donald Trump.
Hunter Biden has had a well-documented addiction to cocaine, crack cocaine and other substances for many years, but has repeatedly claimed he has been sober since 2021, a claim that has prompted President Biden to proclaim often how ‘proud’ he is of his son.
Cheatle became so close to the Biden family during Vice President Joe Biden’s protective service that Biden chose Cheatle for the director’s position in 2022, in part because of his close relationship with first lady Jill Biden.
When cocaine was first discovered, Cheatle apparently knew it would set off a media storm. The incident sparked viral memes about Hunter Biden’s addictions and accusations from Republican political figures, including Nikki Haley, that the Secret Service knew whose cocaine it was and was trying to cover it up.
