While walking to the counter in the hotel lobby to check in the Sudanese delegation, the victim left her purse unattended on a table. Moments later, she realized that her purse was missing. The hotel staff present at the time said they did not notice anything.

According to press reports, the purse contained the sum of $35,000 earmarked for the delegation’s expenses, as well as jewelry, the victim’s phone, passport, and race access pass.

Bag found without money

District 94 judicial police took charge of the case and went to the scene. The victim told police that his phone had last been geolocated to Massy (91). After being informed, Massy police patrolled the scene and found the bag on the road, hidden behind a truck. While the victim’s badge, phone, and passport were still present, money and jewelry had been taken from the bag. The perpetrator or perpetrators, who may have been caught on the hotel’s five surveillance cameras, are on the run.

The victim reported the theft to Sudan’s IOC representative. Such acts have increased since the start of the Olympic Games. On July 29, the Slovak cycling team had part of its equipment stolen from the Olympic Village.

An Olympics is threatened by theft.

Cases of theft were particularly numerous during these Olympic games. Starting from the theft of Zico’s jewelry to that of the Australian BMX delegation to those against Argentine soccer players. Surely someone had a great summer.
