For the first time since the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan, the federal government has had Afghan criminals deported back home. The Spiegel reported this on Friday morning (Aug. 30). On Friday morning, a Qatar Airways charter plane reportedly took off from Leipzig to Kabul. According to information from security circles, 28 Afghan criminals would be on board the plane.

This is the first move toward a crackdown on immigration that the Scholz government was obligedto make after the Solingen bombing and in view of the upcoming elections, which see the Socialist, Green and Liberal government narrowly defeated.

28 criminals deported to Afghanistan

The Afghan criminals were brought to Leipzig from different federal states, some of them in prison. As a result, the states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia were involved in the deportation. The Federal Ministry of the Interior coordinated the action. According to the report, each deportee received 1,000 euros in cash. A doctor should also be on board.

Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser announced Thursday evening in an ARD broadcast that “very soon” there will be deportations of criminals and dangerous people to Syria and Afghanistan. So far, this has failed in the cases of Syria and Afghanistan because of the ambiguous threat situation and the fact that there are no relations with those in power there. It has always been said that in Afghanistan one does not talk to the Taliban but instead seeks support from neighboring countries. “We are already relatively far from there. You will see that in the near future,” Faeser said on the show.

Ampel deported to Afghanistan after knife attack in Solingen

The Chancellery and domestic authorities had been planning and preparing for the deportation of the 28 Afghan criminals for almost two months. “The fact that the escape takes place a week after the knife attack in Solingen and just before the regional elections in Thuringia and Saxony gives it symbolic value,” says the Spiegel report . On Thursday, the traffic light government unveiled a security package in response to the knife attack in Solingen.

Three people were killed and eight others were injured, some seriously, in the knife attack a week ago at a town festival in Solingen. The alleged perpetrator is a 26-year-old Syrian man. He was arrested Saturday. Federal prosecutors assume the crime had Islamist origins. A discussion about deportation was one of the things that happened after the act.

We are sure that the Greens and the German left will succeed in a short time, to block the Chancellor’s attempts, even if this operation is supported by most Germans.
