Copenhagen: the historical Børsen burn down
The historic Børsen building, also known as the Old Stock Exchange, in Copenhagen caught fire on April 16, 2024. The fire caused the collapse of its iconic spire, which was shaped like the intertwined tails of four dragons. This landmark, dating back to the 17th century, was undergoing renovation at the time of the fire, and its copper roof contributed to the intensity of the blaze by trapping heat. The historic building was located next to the Christiansborg Palace, seat of the Danish Parliament, on Slotsholmen Island.
